Much anticipated “Mount & Blade” prequel canceled

Istanbul, Turkey – At a press conference today at the headquarters of TaleWorlds Entertainment in Istanbul, the company which brought us the Mount & Blade series announced that due to funding restraints the latest development and much anticipated Mount & Blade Bannerlord was being put on hold “until further notice”.

The original Mount & Blade was released nearly ten nearly ago in 2008 to great reviews, with a sequel Mount & Blade: Warband  being released in 2010, and the stand alone spin off Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword being released to the market in 2011. The series, a Medieval role-playing sandbox game allows players to create a character and join a faction while taking on optional quests in order to amass power and eventually forge their own kingdom, or lead the armies of one of the pre-present factions.

The latest addition to the series, which was set to take place 200 years before the events of the original game was announced in 2012 and has been plagued by production issues. The series has developed a cult following with many modifications also being created from the community of loyal fans. However, it was not enough to stop the production from being put on indefinite hold while TaleWorlds Entertainment experiences financial difficulties.

In a statement issued today the company said that they would like to get back to production soon, but will be seeking other means by which to generate revenues.

It is not yet clear when, or if the game will be released anytime soon.
