London acid attacks skyrocket in migrant areas

London, UK. – A new type of crime is rapidly emerging in the United Kingdom, acid attacks. These attacks often leave their victims blinded, scarred, and deformed if they are lucky enough to survive. Many blame new waves of Islamic immigration to Europe for this trend, which was virtually non-existent just a decade ago.

The most recent wave of attacks took place in London just last night as two teenage moped riders attacked random victims over a 90 minute period, seriously injuring five people. Police are unsure at the time of a motive though theft is suspected.

These attacks almost all take place within predominantly Muslim migrant communities across London, with many being religiously motivated. Since 2010, there have been more than 1,800 reports of attacks involving corrosive fluids in the capital. Last year, it was used in 458 crimes, compared to 261 in 2015, according to Met Police figures.

The shocking pace at which these attacks are increasing has alarmed the government of the UK, and of London which is attempting to crack down.

A government spokesman said the prime minister viewed acid attacks as “horrific”.

“We are working with the police to see what more we could do. The prime minister’s view is that the use of acid in this way is horrific.”

Home Office minister Sarah Newton told BBC Radio 5 live Breakfast the government was considering tighter controls on some chemicals in response to the acid attacks in East London and elsewhere.
